How to dress for a wedding with Matt Poole How to dress for a wedding with Matt Poole

When you’re a guest, dressing for a wedding can be challenging and even a little confusing. While the lines have blurred on where weddings take place these days; a beach, farm, church, warehouse or other, one thing is still clear – you want to look your best.

We've teamed up with Matt Poole, elite athlete, ironman veteran, father-to-be and entrepreneur to provide you with style inspiration from cool casual to a smart tuxedo.

"I'm a big fan of the slim fitting style and feel of a POLITIX suit."

Q&A WITH MATT POOLE

Q: What’s the most recent wedding you were a guest at and what did you wear?

Weddings are back. I was recently a guest at a wedding in Northern NSW and wore my Politix Oxford tailored jacket and pant and the Zakkary handwoven loafer in whisky colour.

Q: What’s your never-let-you down wedding outfit?

For me, it’s smart casual.  I love wearing a nice pair of clean loafers, suit pant and an open shirt for a summer wedding.

Q: What kind of wedding would you wear the velvet green tux look?

I’d save this look for a formal wedding. I think the green velvet jacket paired with high shine black evening shoes is the killer combination for an extra touch of confidence.

Q: After you’ve worn your suit to a wedding, how and where else do you like to wear it?

I have a lot of sports and sponsor awards nights and dinners to attend, some are more casual and some more formal. I find you can style your suit accordingly.

Q: What are your recommendations for buying a suit for a wedding?

I think a well-styled and fitted suit is super important. Tying everything together from jacket and pants to belt, shoes, socks and accessories is also important. And don't be too afraid to express yourself, because at the end of the day if 'you' feel good, then you’re going to look good too.

Q: Why do you choose a POLITIX suit?

I'm a big fan of the slim fitting style and feel of a POLITIX suit

Q: What kind of wedding would you wear a natural-look suit to?

I love a natural suit, so it’d be my go-to for a laid-back beach wedding or somewhere like a beautiful winery. It’s great to feel relaxed yet look smart at the same time.

Q: What suits would you recommend buying to build a versatile suit wardrobe and why?

I like a good navy suit as I feel it fits well for both formal events, smart casual and even a day at the races and a natural, light coloured suit always looks good for summer events.
